In light of recent events, our Jr Kraken community has taken it upon themselves to begin a “Cool Down Challenge” on social media to remind everyone to respect referees. We are proud to support them and encourage others to participate. Together, we can create a safer, more positive environment for everyone involved.
Instructions:
- Film yourself speaking to the camera about respecting referees and the game.
- Challenge someone on camera to take the Cool Down Challenge and have ice water dumped on them.
- Challenge others on social media to do the same and state their respect and support for referees.
Example script:
- "Hockey is built on respect; respect for the game, each other, and our officials. This isn't about just one incident. It's about making sure our sport stays safe for all players, coaches, fans, and referees. Without referees there is no game. Without respect, there is no hockey."
- "As a reminder that we need to keep our cool, I challenge you to stand with our refs and take the ice bucket."
