Seattle's (unofficial) inaugural experimental lacrockey experience! Let's get the community together to give this a try and see where it takes us!
Who: This co-ed event is open to youth and adult players who know how to play both hockey and lacrosse, and own their own gear for both sports.
Gear: Wear full hockey gear. LAX or hockey helmet with cage manadatory. Bring your lacrosse stick. No d-poles. Balls and pinneys will be provided.
Goalies should be in full goalie pads, skates, and can elect to tend goal with either a box lacrosse goalie stick or hockey goalie stick (whichever they are more comfortable with).
Teams: Players will be divided into teams of 18 players + 1 LAX goalie. On-ice will be 5 players at a time + goalie. Players will swap out on roughly 2-min shifts but can sub on the fly like hockey or after a whistle.
Game Format: Games will be played full ice. Depending on the number of players who register, games could run as either:
- Two 30-min games consisting of two 15-min quarters.
- One 60-min game consisting of four 15-min quarters.
- 2-min break between quarters; 5-min break between halves.
Cost: $15 for players; Free for goalies. Seeking minimum 2 youth and 2 adult goalies. Spectators are free!
Volunteer: Want to help out? We could use a couple people to coach, ref and run the clock. Send an email to "general inquries" to connect with the organizers.
Rules: Games will be played with slightly modified box lacrosse rules. Modifications will be covered on-site before we break into games.
Youth Session - Ages 10-17
1:00pm - Warm up
1:15pm - Split into teams and review the rules
1:25pm - Game/s
Format will depend on registration numbers. We will plan for one 60-min game. If we have enough additional interest, we can open up the waitlist and run two 30-min games one after the other split out by age groups. (10-13 and 14-17)
Adult Session - Ages 18+
2:50pm - Warm up
3:05pm - Split into team and review the rules
3:15pm - Game/s
Format will depend on registration numbers. We plan to run one full-length 60-min game. If we have enough interest from the waitlist, we can open that up and run two 30-min games one after the other split based on (self-assessed) skill level.
